Miss Lou, as her students call her, has been dancing since the age of 4. MissLou trained at the Assiff Studio of the Dance in East Lansing through high school, while starting her teaching career at age 16 in the basement of her home. She is a former member of the Lansing Ballet Company and majored in dance at both Eastern Michigan University and Lansing Community College.

She continues her education and training by attending a variety of dance conferences and conventions across the United States.
She is the mother of three adult sons, two grand daughters and now lives in Fremont, where she opened the 2nd branch of the studio in 1974.

Over the past 40 years she has developed a philosophy of teaching that stresses the education of the dancer first.

A strong foundation in ballet and teaching the love of dance, all while keeping expenses to a minimum is and always has been the philosophy that guides LCDS instruction.

This season will be the 41st year Miss Lou has served the Newaygo County area community and in her classes there are many second generation dancers whose mothers previously danced at LCDS.

Miss Lou is proud to be called "DANCE MOMMY/GRANDMOMMY" by all of her dance children.
